I have a few cubs and I really like them, I also have a workhorse green machine. My father-inlaw has about 1,000 acres +- at any 1 time and he has alot of equipment. for yard duty he has a couple machines and they are not yellw! I have used them all and they are awesome machines ! well over the holiday weekend, we went to our family cabin, (which is only a 2 hr drive in the UP). we got there thur night. Fri i get up to take care of the yard and i get out mowing and I have not used a machine that is an actual stcik shift in proly 10 yrs(been using hydro),And I have gotten really use to the cubs, so this was a real pain in the butt to me !!! After about an hr of mowing the old machine just died !! Just my luck ! well the way it died I was sure it wasnt a fuel problem, but some sort of ignition prob ! Well to my amazement, it was kinda a pain in the A$$ to get to the carb and the coil just to check stuff out, I had to take the hood ,side panels , and drill and front end off. then to get the coil out I had to take the batterry and the batt box out, Just to replace a coil that had less than 3 hrs of run time on it ! Took it to the parts store, it was a deffective part. Didnt take much to figure out the problem, I just thought it wa a pain to get to the carb or coil ! compared to my old cubs !! But im sure the newer the cub the wors it is also ! it was just kinda nice to even have my wife jump on the bandwagon, While I was on the phone telling my father-inlaw my wife piped up, we can bring 1 of the cubs up, LOL.

I know exactly what you mean. I helped my uncle with his yard, a few years ago. He has two tractors, one is a cheapo brand, and the other one is a Sears GT16. I drove both of them, and I'll take my 100 over both any day.

I saw a big (Like 72" at least) front mounted lawn mower, (one of those ones you drive with handles) at a local UFA, it had a 25 horse B&S V twin in it, but it was mounted so stupidly that the oil plug opened up onto sheetmetal, and the nearest hole for the drain was almost 2 feet away. Imagine the mess that would make! Also the battery was in such a smart place that you had to flip the thing on it's side to take it out... Pretty dumb if you ask me...

If you were just looking for a machine that was really easy to work on - it probably would be a Wheel Horse. They're the most simplest designs and the easiest to work on. Even though I like my Cubs better, they're a lot more complicated than Wheel Horses.

had to replace the drive belt on my crapsmen this week-end and it was a pain as well. First i had to take the deck off, then the pto holder, and finally the rear end cover to get the new belt on. thats why i love cubs, the only belts run the deck and are a cinch to put on. After i got the belt on i left the deck off just to check it and popped a couple wheelies in 6th gear. that was kinda fun:biggrin2.gif:

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
