One of my carpenter friends (yeah, I got friends) called me a couple weeks ago, asked if I wanted a Cub Cadet he found on a job sight. I asked him, "what is it?" He was like, a lawn tractor, do you want it?
"How much?" He said it was free. Free is good, and delivered is even better. So today he dropped it off. Now the question. What to do with it.![]() Guess I started off with them in worst condition. BONUS, seat is pretty nice. It's definitely got a "few" oil leaks, from the front to the rear. Sprayed it down with PB today, and took a whiff of the fuel, smells pretty old. I'll see how it runs, and evaluate the situation then. The hour meter only shows 112 hrs. Yeah, right well that's what it says...![]() Plastic is pretty good overall. The attachment point on the lower right of the grill shell is broke, but that's about the worst for plastic. Check out the GO LEVER fix. Works for me...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
