Default New 782D (small issue)

hello- I purchased a 782D yesterday. just been working on it today. heres my "issue" it seems to be leaned over on the right front of the tractor (pipe Side) I noticed when i got on the tractor on that side is really squats down, but if i get on the left side, its stiffer and the tractor levels out when doing so.

is this in the front axle? or is this a common issue as the exhaust hangs on that side? air pressures are fine.

any thoughts?

Congrats on your new Cub!

I would look closely at the spindles, front axle, and the frame area where the axle pivots for bends. It is very possible that the previous owner bent something. It shouldn't be leaning. It doesn't seem possible that with the girth of these heavy cast front axles that they will bend, but they can. It almost sounds like something is binding in the axle pivot area if it stiffens while trying to lean it to one side or the other. Have you jacked it up yet and moved the axle around?

when i jack it up the axle stays leaned to the right. i have a hypothesis. considering this turn to the left the sharpest, more than likely it has been turned left alot in its life, so therfore weight rolls to the right front. i think the middle pin is wore out? your opinion?>

Its possible, or the hole that the pin goes through on the frame is wallowed out, which is common wit a lot of use. Your best bet is to jack it up, support the frame, and remove the front axle, degrease it all, and see what everything looks like at that point.

There is a repair procedure somewhere on this forum I believe to address the oblong/worn hole.

If you dig into it further, let us know what you find, or post some pics.

Good luck,

Jeff (teet)

Did you check the bolts in the rear that hold the diff. to the frame? They are notorious on those tractors.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
