I have an easy question. I'm working on getting Tru powers for my 149 and I was going off the manual for the tire sizes. It said 23x8.50-12. But when I got too looking at the tires on the tractor, it had 23x10.50-12 tires. I also found that the 1450 had the same when they both should be 8.50s. My questiong is, am I missing something and which one is it supposed to be?
Thanks |

According to the Spec Sheet, the 149 had standard rear tires of: 23 x 8.50 -12. Optional was the 23 x 10.50 -12.

You mean 6-12 rears? I've never heard of a 23-6.5-12 tire

So do I need to get 10.5 tires, or will 8.5 tires work too? Did the dealer use 10.5 rims with 10.5 tires, or were they the same rims?

They are not the same rims, the 10-5's are an upgrade from the dealer. If you have 10-5's, put them back on.

Measure your rims. 7" wide rims use 8.50's. 8.5" rims use 10.50's. Although you can put 10.50's on 7" rims, they look a little funny.

I have a 1650 with the 23x10.5x12 tires and just ordered a pair of Carlisle Tru-Power 23x10.5x12 for her. I have seen several pictures of other members with the same type of tire and I typically have to wipe the drool from my mouth after viewing. Just one more thing to upset the neighbors. :biggrin2.gif: |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
