Question 42 in deck spindle

Having touble locating grease seals for a spindle on my 42 in IH deck. The part number on the seal that came out is IH-473 428 R91. This cross reference is IH-473428-R92 however that one doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

First, Welcome to our Forum............

Part number IH 473428-R92 is available from your local Cub Cadet or Case-IH Dealer. If that is not feasible, then the fine sponsors in the boxes listed at the top of this page would be more than willing to help you.

Model # 42 U 1113. The grease seal we removed was a 473 428 R91. Our local parts store cross referenced it to a 473428 R92. We tried that but it wasn't the right seal (just dropped in and wouldn't seal anything). We did have success though when we took the spindle in and had them measure everything. NAPA 10034 worked.
Thanks for your responses!

So, NAPA can get a seal that works. I tried earlier this year, but ended up having to trek down to the Cub dealer (they only seem to carry 2 in stock). Had the same problem with NAPA giving me one that just fell in the spindle housing.

Thanks for the part number.

Cheers

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
