Default Question regarding narrow or wide frame plow

Hi All...

I'm cleaning up the yard and found I have a plow that I never use. The distance (opening) between the rear lift forks on the lift mechanism is 7". Can someone tell me if this is for a narrow or wide frame tractor...???

Thank you !

A picture would be helpful, since someone may have molested the undercarriage that I assume you are referring to and that would give us a better reference. I have seen (and now own) a WF (wide frame) undercarriage that someone has cut the arms off of and switched sides on in order to make a WF undercarriage work on a NF (narrow frame), so anything is possible. The WF ones are supposed to taper back and become narrower than they are at the front of the subframe (where it hooks to the Quick Attach (QA) on the frame, so the distance may vary from about 4" to about 7". The NF ones are supposed to run straight back and expand (not be parallel) as the reach the forks on the end so that they can rest on the supports for the footrest on the outside of the frame, so without taking a tape measure to the ones I have, I would say they are about 11"-13" apart at the back forks.

I hope this helps...Put that plow to some good use and have some fun!

Also, sometimes a little more description is helpful.
A "plow" can mean a lot of things to folks, I'm sure you know what you have, we don't.
A "plow" can be a moldboard implement for turning over soil in preparation for further tillage operations as in example, a garden.
Also a "plow" can be a mounted dozer or push blade one uses to move various
material like rocks, dirt, leaves, and that four letter word for frozen sunshine, SNOW ( forgive me for such blasphemy) in the middle of beautiful warmth.
A "plow" can me mean udder stuff like
I got plowed las nite and plum dun runned into a tree on da curve.
Don't see how it jus moved itself into da rode like that.

I have a plow sitting here that fits a narrow frame and the fork distance is 7 inches. But I never tried to put it on a wide frame.
I do have a wide frame plow but it is not handy to measure so I guess I'm not much help.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
