1541 / 46" deck belt issue
I have a 1541 with a model 336, 46" deck. Last fall, the mower drive belt broke, so I got a new one from TSC. It's been working with no issues since then. Today, while mowing the lawn, it threw the belt. I put is back on, and it won't stay on. It comes off, ranging from immediately when I turn on the PTO, to 5 minutes after I start mowing. I don't see anything wrong with the belt, or routing. The only thing I noticed is that when the belt tension is adjusted per the manual, the front of the tension adjustment pulley is about 1/2" forward of the PTO pulley. The belt isn't any easier to get on the pulleys than previously, but I'm thinking maybe the belt has stretched?
It's probably got around 15 hrs on it since I installed the belt. The previous belt lasted about 5 or 6 years. Mike

I had the same problem with a TSC belt. The cords inside the belt may have become broken. If that is the case, time for a new belt.

I found the issue.
I went back out and looked at everything closer. I noticed that the idler pulley with the tension adjustment link wasn't aligned with the belt going back to the deck. I found the pulley arm had a slight twist. I removed the pulley, and twisted the arm with a big crescent wrench and a pipe, put the pulley and belt back on, and everything was back in alignment. Just finished mowing my yard with no issues. (1.5 hrs mowing)
