Default Qa42a/149 questions

Hey guys,

I just purchased a nice QA42A snow thrower for my 149. Does anyone know what length lift rod I need and also what length belt ? I know I can mount it all up and measure but I still have my deck on as I have many oak trees and a mow n vac that wont be removed for a few more weeks... I'd rather not have to mount and un-mount all that more than I must. Thanks for any help or direction

Default same question for me

I have the same snowblower, but on a 1650. It looks like the lift rod would be 1/2" round stock. I know from other ones they are bent on the ends. What is the center to center length of the rod? Any answers.....
Thanks for the help

Default Rod length

I think you can use a chain with clevis links on each end. Once you have the length figured out you can swap it for a rod if you like

Hi. Newcomer here. I have a 71 149 and I am wondering if one of these adjustable rods will give me the ability to raise my QA42 snowblower up a little higher. I have an issue coming out of my shed of the snowblower bottoming out before I'm completely off the ramp. Any help/advice will be much appreciated. Be gentle, I'm a rookie ! LOL !

I like that chain idea. It may allow the snowthrower to float a bit more on uneven ground.

I find myself setting down the snowthrower, then moving downhill, and as I crest the hill, I have to drop the snowthrower a bit more as its no longer touching the ground.

Default QA42 snow blower

Welcome to the forum KCbuzzi. Disconnect your lift rod and then lift the snow blower by hand. This will tell you how high it will go. Be sure your U joints are in alignment on the snow blower. The adjustable lift rod from Jeff works well. I have one on my 149 with a Qa36a snow blower. Have a great day.
Bob

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
