I have the engine tore down to the camshaft now, anybody done this? The instructions were pretty clear until this step it says I need to drive it out, looks to me it will only go one way, I thought I better ask the brain trust here before I get a bigger hammer.
I know it's probably a easy answer but I hate to get this far and hack it up on one of the last steps of the teardown and have my project get really expensive because of a mistake on my part. Thanks |

It needs to be driven out from the bearing plate side of the engine. The shaft goes through the center of the camshaft and can be driven all the way out the other side. Just be careful not to lose any shims, and remember where they went in relation to the shaft.
Its better to ask now, rather than ask how to fix a screw up later :biggrin2.gif: Good luck, Jeff (teet)

That is exactly why I asked, as a retired aircraft mechanic now I always asked if there were and tips or tricks in doing a job before I started it. I have learned many lessons from the school of hard knocks and some had "interesting" results to say the least. Like.......Never,Never EVER safteywire a heater hose from a ground heater to a flight control stick of an aircraft no matter how cold it is, to heat up the cockpit. Something about the heat of the heater and the plastic on the stick grip has a tendency to deform due to the intense heat of the ground unit makes the flight control stick grip fold over in a perfect 90 degree angle and stay there, lost a little pride on that one but it is funny now. |
