Wink Cub cadet rear end gears same as Plymouth automobile?

I have a model 128 CC, built (roughly) in the 73-74 timeframe.

I guy visiting my neighbor told me that he and his dad did a lot of hot rodding/pulling with the CCs... he pointed to mine sitting in my yard and stated firmly that gears in the rear end of my 128 were exactly the same as what was in the rear-end "pumpkin" of a 1963-ish Plymouth Valiant you could (at one time) find in a junkyard.

Was this guy correct, or has my mind somehow mixed up some of the details as I advance (all too quickly) in years?

Thanks,

Goony

Update: I just checked my serial number, it was built in 1972.

i was told by an older cub mechanic that was a hot roder that they were the same size as what was in a ford pinto, he had so much knowledge that i never challenged him on the facts by with some time and research i am sure some on here can come up with a definitive answer.

for the record i would put my money on the pinto answer, pintos were a fairly small car low hp but the vailiant while not a boat was bigger then the pinto and nothing in the 60's was built small

A 7 1/4" out of a slant six A body dodge can be used in a cub but there is machining to do on the case. You still use the pinion out of the cub, with the cub ring gear bolted to the "new" carrier
I believe there is a ford pinto carrier that can be used also but I'm not a ford guy.

after looking there are 7.25 ring gears listed for all american manufacturers but like i said earlier i think they were in the lower hp models, like in a gm product if you went above a certain horse power the rear end went from a 10 bolt to a 12 bolt.
like many things in life size dose matter, and there is no replacement for displacement.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
