Good morning all! I thought I would go ahead and share my restoration progress on my 123. A little backstory first...
I acquired this tractor about 14 years ago and my uncle and I did a restoration on it at that time - this was actually my first restoration project that got me hooked. Through the years following, this tractor had been used and abused. It moved from Pennsylvania to Delaware for a few years where it was used to mow grass at my uncles rental property by a neighbor. The best care wasn't taken for about the last 10 years and it showed. A lot of scratches, paint missing from where attachments would be hooked up, grease, dirt, you name it. I decided that this would be my "quarantine project" and get it back to a better condition. Mechanically this tractor is great - it's all cosmetic at this point. I'll try to post regular updates as this project continues, but I got the tractor pretty much down to a rolling chassis last night. ![]() |

Very nice! From another 123 owner, I look forward to seeing your progress.
Mine is a worker. I mainly use it in my garden with the #1 Tiller. Fixed the tiller today (roll pins on a shaft sheared).... hope to get to use it tomorrow.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
