Hello, I’m new to Cub Cadets but have a addiction to old iron. I found a 60’s Cub and was wondering what exactly I have. The guy said it was a 1965 however the hood decal appears to be of a “original” cub. The word Cub in blue above a cursive International in red then below that Cadet in blue. There are two serial number(?) I can see. One stamped into frame on pc behind deck lever 46416 and one cast on the frame directly in front of rear tire, right hand side of your sitting on the tractor 351530. Does anyone know which one it is or could someone post a pic of their pride and joy to show me where to look? I appreciate any information I can get.

First, welcome to OCC..........
![]() Next, it sounds like you have the Original (1960-1963) The Serial Number for and Original is "stamped" into the rear end housing (#501 to #65547).

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
