Did this problem occur before you did the work??
Did you mess with the starter switch wiring any? Are you sure the V/R is correct for the application and wired correctly? IH-545130-R92 |

The voltage regulator is Stens 435-040. Listed that part # has 4 terminals. The starter relay is Stens 435-008 3 terminal. The problem started after I changed these, never moved wires on it ignition switch.

Something is NOT wired right or you have the wrong parts.

Hard to disagree;with the others...... I'm curious to why were you replacing these parts before the problem? Recheck your wiring and do make sure the regulator is properly grounded.

All "will fit" voltage regulators are NOT created equal.
We get this very same question more than once a month here. The regulators have to be wired as per their lug identified terminals, not their physical location on the regulator.

That wire is not green, it is blue. It prolly will not be charging the batt tree now that it is disconnected.
A picture of how you wired it would help...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
