I've got a 1872, when its cold, after starting it it won't move or steer. If I let it run for a while and then shut it off and let it absorb the heat it will come out of it but it takes a few times. The colder it is the worse it is. Relief valve issue? What other possibilities? How do I check?

I'd pull the rear cover for a good flush and refill.

Ok I see what everybody is thinking, It looks like i'll be flushing the hydraulic pump. Is there a write up on the procedure? I am not able to do a search for some reason.

No need to flush the pump. Get a new rear cover gasket, 2 gallons of your favorite oil and an oil filter. Then just pull the rear cover, jack the front of the machine up and spray the inside of the rear with some brake cleaner. Make sure nothing is in there that shouldn't be and that the suction tube is free and clear of any debris. Good luck and let us know how works after you change the fluid.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
