Hello, I am looking for a snow thrower for my Cub Cadet 147. After doing some research, I found that there are a lot of different models that will fit my machine. What is the difference between all of the the snow thrower models? Is my machine under powered for a 42 inch or should I get a 36 inch snow thrower?
Thanks Logan |

You can use, for the 147 these models:
* QA36 * QA42 * QA36A * QA42A

The QA42/42A was used on previous tractor models with 12HP or less, so your 14HP should have no issues operating the larger unit. These are all single stage units, and depending on who you talk to, were just "ok". The later dual stage units threw snow better and farther, but not entirely sure they can be retrofitted to your model.

Get yourself a 42". A 36' will work but you will be running over more snow with the front wheels during turning maneuvers
I have sent you a PM. |

The QA42 is narrow frame only where as the QA42A & 36A is adjustable so it will fit either narrow frame or wide frame. The 2nd A, standing for adjustable in this case

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
