Default CC129 Brake Question

Before I tear apart the brakes this next weekend I thought I would ask for some insight or advice first. My right rear brake gets hung up and will not release without a love tap. The Brake rod loosens right up when the pedal is released with no problem. However I have to go in from the rear of the tractor and lightly tap the caliper lever for it to release. It is not rusted and when released it moves easily with no friction. Any thoughts?

The cam is probably worn quite a bit and going over center would be my 1st guess.
Are the brakes adjusted properly as per the manual?
Do the brake pads have much lining left?

If lever has flat spot on end of long side it will act as you describe. You will need to build up with weld and reshape to match a known good lever.

If inside pad has groove worn into lever side switch pads inside to outside and vice versa. Might also put some lube on where lever contacts inner pad. Good luck !

Default CC129 Brake Question

Thanks all for the insight. I hope to get to it this weekend but I have a room full of drywall to do so we will see.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
