Welcome to OCC! Something doesn’t add up here. The 128s were built from 1971-1974, and were a gear drive, not hydro. The 129 was the hydrostatic version. If you can post a few pictures and the serial number, we can help you figure out what you have.

Greetings!
what a lovely week it was last week and they yesterday and today I am seeing snow falling out the window at home and at work in Ithaca. Summer is over and the grass didnt even get cut one apparently.

I do not have any pictures of it from 1968 sadly and it is long gone.

I do remember that The owner of the property my parents bought had a low boy before this and traded it in on the new lawn and garden tractor.

I honestly think the first cub cadet that you have shown with the blue stripe is the model we had and it was a hydrostatic drive.

I do remember not having to manually shift it to change speeds.

I do remember the newer low boy my father replaced it with was a 3 speed with a three point hitch and the four cylinder water cooled engine and diamond tread tires.

Good evening fellow cub cadet board members,

I waddled over to the garden tractor forum and one of members stated IHC manufactured hydrostatic drive lawn and garden tractors in 1968.

I wish I could remember if the one we had had a 10 or 12 horsepower Kohler unit with the 36 inch snow thrower.

I have to order an owners manual, repair manual and snow thrower manual for this cub.

Thumbs up 1968? cub cadet hydrostatic tractor(light blue paint stripe)
Good morning fellow board members,

Thank you for jogging my memory about the cub cadet that we owned.

I hope this helps, I do remember our single stage snow thrower having a right angle gearbox.

Being a curious 13 year old(insert idiot here)I took the top off the gear box and saw that it was packed with grease and the gear box had bevel gears in it.

At the time of course I had no idea what these gears were named as.

Now I cannot say for sure how the drive pulley attached to the gearbox was mounted seeing the V belt pulleys in the drawings and whether it was located at the six o'clock or nine o'clock position with the gear box attached the snow thrower frame.

I see, I just assumed this was a tractor you just bought and you wanted to know more about it. It sounds like it was a 105 (10hp) or a 125 (12hp) that you had. Here is a picture of my 125…
