I'm picking up a NF front blade this weekend. Problem is, I don't want to rent a van again after renting two this past weekend, and it's a long ride so it'll kill me.
I know it'll fit in the wifes car....if I can separate the blade to slide it next to the frame. What does the pivot pin look like? Can it be removed....or atleast grind the head off and replace with a new pin? I can make anything to factory spec...but I need to know if I need to bring an electric grinder with a stone disc. Will that work? Being a 3-4hr round trip, I can't take a look/see before hand.

All you have to do is remove the two cotter pins where the undercarriage meets with the main part of the plow.See Picture. You have to spread the undercarriage apart to remove it from the pins.Should fit no problem.

Prying the subframe apart is easier said than done. If your vehicle has a scissors jack, you're in luck...pull the cotter keys and spread the subframe apart with the scissors jack. That's how I take them apart and put them back together again.

Yes, thankyou both.
It appears to me that I can not only separate the blade from the mount, but also the mount from the frame. I guess I'll just bring some side cutters. some wrenches (3/4" most likely), and a porta-power (to spread) to do the trick. It's going in my wife's passat, with the back seats down.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
