Default Trip Springs

Hey guys,
was tearing down the 42" snow plow to clean and one of the springs broke on me. Is there an aftermarket equivilent that i could get at a local hardware store, or does anyone have some extra lying around? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Tractor Supply sells a spring for pick up truck snow plows, but my measurements show that they are too long (14.5 in), and by the feel, they are a little too stiff as well. I would be curious to know the length on the MFG spring above. Our IH snow plow springs need to be about 11.5 to 12 in if my memory is correct, I may be off.

Let me know if you find anything that works, I went last winter with just one spring. I found sites that want upward to $50 for them, but that is what I paid for the plow, way too much for me.

If the spring broke @ the end where it is attached, you can bend the coil into a hook and re use it. Now if it is farther along that won't work.

Doing the same with a length of broken garage door spring might work as well. They are pretty close in size to the trip springs on a couple of my GT plows. After breaking a rock shaft last year I would rather have too little trip spring than too much.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
