Default questions about a 1200

Is there a hydraulic lift equipped 1200? If so, where was the pump located? My 1200 has aluminum axle tubes. When did IH start this?

The 1200 as well as the 1000 were gear drive quietline tractors. The 1250, 1450 and 1650 were hydrostatic driven and the 1650 had a hydraulic lift, not sure about the 1450 and 1250. Someone will be along soon to tell you about the aluminum axle tubes.

The 1250,1450,1650 were the only Q/L's to have the optional hydro lift. I didn't think there where any alluminum trans axel parts until mtd took over in 81, mayby it was replaced then.

paint is flaking off the tubes, exposing corroding aluminum. I do think , but have not checked the center section is cast iron.

The aluminum axle tubes started partway through the QL series, probably at about the same time as they went back to internal brakes, added 1" front spindles, and used the 82 series-style steering wheel.

The 1450 and 1650 have standard hydraulic lift. It was only an option for the 1250. No IH-built tractor has an aluminum transaxle case. Only the later QLs and the 82 series have the aluminum axle tubes.

I am pretty sure that you don't need to worry breaking the aluminum tubes.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
