Default 450 on the 1862

Got some snow this week and some seat time. Got to clear the driveway last nite and again this morning before work. Upgrading from manual steering, lift and tranny (last years JD212) to the power steering, hydraulic lift and hydro drive of the 1862 is awesome. I rebuilt the 450 this summer with new bearings, grease, and straightened the augers and this thing is quiet. Quiet enough that it's hard to tell if the pto is engaged or not if it's not spewing snow. It takes me about 20 minutes to clear 150' that goes from about 12' wide to 30' and then a 30'x30' turnaround at the garage doors. I also added a set of halogen driving lights on the drift cutters so I could see. They made a world of difference.

Methos - that is toygirls tractor, and she puts the miles on it. She's not too fired up about running the blower, so I get to have all the fun. Funny part is, she's my youngest (12), and the only one I would trust to run it, if she showed an interest!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
