Default Cub Cadet 169

Hi Guys, I'm new to the site, this is my first post. I just picked up my first Cub cadet, it's a 16HP 169 with Plow Blade & 50 inch Mower Deck. Runs great, think I got a good deal for $400 ? Not Sure...I've been hell bent On getting a Older IH Cadet, since I also have a IH Farmall Super A.
I realy know absolutely nothing about this tractor ,So Any Tips or info you can give me on what problems I might expect to find with the 169, I sure would appreciate your insight. thanks, Dan O'

The 169's were only made at the end of 1974 with just a few over 4000 made total. They are kind of rare and hard to get. I have one I bought and am waiting on it to be delivered. You got a great first cub to start with at a good price. We like pictures.

Default Dan O's 169

A big welcome Dan O! As others has stated you found you a rare one to get started with...at a killer price! Built only in 1974 starting with ser# 506737. IH built their 500,000 Cub Cadet in 1974. We would love to see some pics of your pride and joy!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
