Default Worth it?

I found a Cub Cadet 1200, with deck, plow, and soft cab for $600. The tractor runs just could use a new paint job sometime, and a new battery. Whats the value of this?

Edit: here is the ad

TKP:

Two things....(A) Condition is everything.....and (B) Pictures would be most helpful.

When he pulled it out of the garage:

He said he cleaned it up:

That has been for sale for a several weeks. How does that non-IH blade hook up? The side panels have also been butchered up, I would pass on that one.

Not sure what that front blade fits but I doubt it fits that tractor, but if so would love to see how. I think also for that amount of money I would wait and something better will come along. I have learned one thing with this addiction, patience will always bring something nice you didn't expect. Just my two cents.

I would be leery of that one. Just has that appearance of a lot of hidden problems. First indicator is the guy punched a hole in the tin work to poke a stack out of it. Just have to wonder what else has been cobbed up.

Pretty rough ole gal. I see it has headlights and a rear lift. In the first pic, there is a mule drive frame of some sort in the background. Wonder if they made that for the blade? I agree with the others, price is high. If it runs good maybe lowball an offer and see what happens, or bide your time for something else. Good luck and keep us posted.

No pics of the soft cab? One thing that I've learned about this addiction is when your not looking the right tractor or attachment will find you. If you decide to get it be prepared to do some wrenching and part replacements. Keep us posted on your progress.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
