Hello everyone. I have a NF hydraulic unit that I'm trying to rebuild that's in fairly rough shape. I'm trying to disassemble the unit and I'm stuck.
The pulley was smashed up against the pump body which broke the handle stub off of the valve cartridge. I have been able to pull the unit apart to the point where the guts of pump itself are next. The pulley, hoses, handle assembly, canister & base are off of the pump body. The valve cartridge is seized in the body & won't turn along with the spring & check ball are loose in the pump body, though they are stuck in the pump body as well. It looks like the cartridge hasn't been shoved into the pump body because I can spin the ring on the outside freely with my finger and the two pins on the inside are sitting up against the back of the pump body like they are supposed to be. I unscrewed the plug to access the spring & ball but there is a washer or something similar to a washer preventing the spring & ball from coming out that hole. Any suggestions of what to do next would be great! I'm kinda scared of hurting it anymore than it is right now by applying too much force in the wrong spot and in the wrong way. So any help would be more than appreciated. I'll try to post some pictures soon.

Is there another Cub Cadet hydraulic cylinder, in general, that is similar in size to the cylinder used with the NF add-on hydro unit?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
