Default 1811 tire question.

I am restoring an 1811 cub that my Grandfather bought new. I am going to use his orig. wheels and tires on my weekly mower. ( 1210 cub.) I want the look of the 26x12x12 tires on the 1811. I don't know if i am going to pull the trigger on a set of Douglas polished wheels yet or not. Can i use the 26x12x12 on the rear of my 1811 with out any modification? I will only use the tractor on special occations and it won't be worked again. I inherited the 1811 when my Grandfather passed on, so It is going to be restored and he was always a fan of chrome and polished wheels, so the Douglas wheels seem to fit the memory bill. Thanks, Jason

26" tire will not fit without modification. You will have to shim the fender pan up to make clearance, or purchase a battery box from a super.

Any idea how far the shim would need to be? I assume it is a pretty simply thing to do, If I am going to tear it down to repaint it anyhow.

They fit on my 1282 with out any mods they are tight but you don't need to mod it. My buddy had them on his 1811 and has them on his 782 right now with out any mods to them.

Putting the bigger tires on the gt with gt pump/rearend raises a question i have. Will that cause more strain on the gt pump/rearend since it's turning bigger tires under a heavy load such as plowing etc...?

Was wondering the same thing as I love the looks of the 26's on Juniors tractor. Also how bad will that throw off the mowing deck?

I have heard of a couple of people twisting off coarse-spline axles in 14+ hp tractors after doing this, but he'll be fine with the fine-spline axles in the aluminum rear, especially since he says he isn't going to work it. I would imagine they'd make you have to re-level the deck, and I imagine getting a 50" deck under there might get a bit more interesting, as there isn't a whole lot of room to begin with.

It definately won't be worked. it is going to become my personal toy. The absolute hardest thing it may ever do it mow with a 38 inch deck. I doubt it will ever do that even.

I had to adjust the deck a bit but not much. It's pretty level now, not any more out than it was before the tire change. I've only had a 44" deck under it, It's pretty close to the caster bracket, probably about 3/4" clearance. The 50" deck would probably work better because the casters are much wider. I don't know if the 50" deck is wider front to back or not never measured one and compared it to a 44" deck. But I can say it cuts grass just fine with those tires on it. I've been using them for about a year and half now with no problems at all.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
