Question 147 mower deck.

Hey! I'm new here and am going Saturday to pick up my first ih cub! 147 running well, looks clean with no mower deck. I've found the information on which models of mower decks very vague. There is a 44A here in town attached to a 129. I finally found a website selling deck parts that lists which models would fit each tractor. However; it lists the 38",4/",and the 48" decks will fit cubs 129 and the 147; but only the 129 was listed as fitting the undercarriage of44A. I know their frames are different sizes but:

Which decks will fit the 147, really? The connectors are 10" apart.

Thanks! I can't wait to start riding!

James

The correct deck options for the 147 are 38", 42", or 48". See this link.... Decks

I know it would be standard. But understand if I'm to buy this tractor, I it will have to show my wife that it mows! I have access to the parts off a 129 including the deck. Which has a 44" "newer" style deck. I hope I can make it work. Otherwise I see my dream of slowly restoring an ih cub that reminds me of my grandpa slipping away for now.

The 147 is a Narrow Frame tractor. The 129 is a Wide Frame tractor. The mower deck from a 129 will NOT fit on a NF tractor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
