Tool Maker, thanks for sharing your IH Cub Cadet testimony with us and OCC! No dout what Zippy had said is true. Hope you can get the float button replaced some time. I have the same problem at the moment with the float button on my 72. I can get away with a 1/4"- 3/8" short socket because my top button is missing.

This story reminds me of a similar situation from 1981 or 82. It was before we got the Ford in 1983. We had just moved into our current home with about 1/2 mile of driveway and private road to get up to the state road. They were predicting 18 inches of snow. We had our 108 with a 42 inch snow blade, so with about a foot on the ground, I was out in the storm plowing because I wasn't sure it would handle 18 inches. Had no problems, after I got the lane and drive clear, waited til the storm was over and went out and did it again. It's amazing how well these little machines work.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
