From the drawing board, the Farmall Cub was designed for a hydraulic unit. The very first Cub (#501) that rolled off the assembly line had everything necessary to accept the unit. I have #2116 which was made in late May-June of '47 and she has a hydraulic unit. The units themselves were not available until sometime later.

Nice Cub Mr. Crutcher!

Either way, very good looking machine!
It's a 1948

I don't mind the heat I don't like the humidity. I'm not looking forward to snow (I like mowing) BUT I miss sleeping comfortably and not sweating everywhere/everything I do.

PS nice cub.

The gas cap is a CURRENT IH recall! Go online give serial# and two days later you get a free gas cap for a recall on a 66 year old tractor.

Wow, I didn't know that! I'll have to pass that on to my father for a few free gas caps! Any idea where to do this or what the recall is about?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
