Good for you Rich! See, with a little persistence, and some trial and error you surprised yourself... Clean her up and post some more pics, it would be nice to get a good look at your new baby :biggrin2.gif:

Oh yeah...I got the 682 up and running today, and she runs and drives like a champ. I surprised myself too...the engine was from a 1250 that had been sitting for 5+ years...

Thanks again!

Jeff (teet)

I tend to believe that it was a dirty carb inside and out from not being used. But here is a list of things I did to get it going:
1. Put battery in it, 2. cleaned all electical ends, 3. gap old plug, 4. put new plug in when it didn't start, 5. gaped points about 3 different times, 6.took old gas out of tank and lines, 7. Cleaned and recleaned carb about 4 times (I just didn't want to take it off motor yet), 8. Finally at a last resort got a new can of carb cleaner and sprayed it clean and scrubbed inside and out. Then it finally started. I did all this over 2 days and I believe letting it soak was a key trick to freeing up what ever was wrong. And I just GOT LUCKY.

The 3pt and the creeper gear are worth dang near what you paid for it, so I'd say you did well.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
