Had a fella in his 80s tell me 'I got hearing aids, but it is so nice not to hear sometimes', and nodded towards his wife...
I have had ringing in the ears since I was 2-3 yrs old.

According to the DR. that is the worst case scenario. The coming and going of the hearing could be a serious medical issue..
Yeah, it pretty much sucks, the buzzing and ringing constantly every waking minuet of the day blows. But it's just another bump in the road of life..

Hope the hearing aids work out for you. I see them in my future; I taught high school band for 3 years and play in a group for fun and occasional money. Plus bartending for weddings every weekend with unscrupulous dj's, my better half is always on my case about something I didn't hear, be it screaming toddler, household "reminders," or the phone ringing... Plenty of ringing in the ears though. Hope it doesn't slow down your terrific restorations!
