It will but you'll need to rework the drive shaft or use one from a Cyclops.

The best way to do it is to use the drive shaft, muffler, heat shield, motor plate from an 1863 or 1864 and a pump adapter for the 5/8" round pump shaft. Jeff in PA makes the adapter.

Ok so if I had the complete tractor that the command is in I'd still need more pieces. I can pick that up with only 600 hours on it for 400 bucks.

$400 is a good deal for a good running CH18. Holler after you get it and I try to help you with the transplant. They list I gave you is the preferred way to do it but you have other less expensive options.

Ok so the tractor with the command 18 in it is closer to 700 hours on it. Needs a starter selenoid. How many hours can you generally get out of the command? Want to make sure this is worth doing. Or maybe I should just buy the 1200 with the little deck and sell off the 1711.

700-2000 hours depending on how it was run and maintained. $400 for a non runner, no way. Keep looking.

He says it runs just fine and can use the whole tractor as is just need to jump the selenoid. I'm not really interested in the tractor as a whole, I'd part it out or scrap it just use the motor. I still also really like the 1200 available with 350 hrs a snowblower and a deck for 500 but that's a tiny deck compared to what I'm used to.

Well it's been a long disappointing while. Missed out on the deal with the command. Really don't want to buy a new old mower with new issues and a small deck. I just stumbled on a kohler magnum 18. Not sure what it came out of. Runs good. A buddy of mine has it and will sell it for 100 bucks. Will this make an easy swap in the 1711?

I know it was replied that it's a good swap before but is there anything to check out if I don't know what it came from? Any differences pending on what it was used in?

See if you can get the Spec number off of that motor. That should tell us what it is off of and we can go from there.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
