Im sure your right about the tires Alvy, the one manual covers several models so I prob read it wrong. I wouldnt bother swapping them but it would have been a good selling feature. I'd rather have a fel anyway, I had a big International a few years ago but it was too big for what I need, and it was diesel so that meant keeping another fuel source handy, I sold it and started looking for an old Cockshutt with a fel so I can also do some antique pulling for fun, I found the tractor I just need some time to work on it

Yep, at that price you stole it!
![]() I can't do without a forklift around my place. Just be careful with it in the yard.. doesn't take hardly anything to get it stuck with those type tires. You are pretty limited to hard packed dirt or concrete.

Our forklift at the dealership I work at has a old forklift that I am pretty sure was designed for a warehouse and it will hardly pull it self around on the pavement at work. Any little bump and it will lose traction if you don't have some weight on the forks.
You got a great deal there! ![]() Randy

Havent had trouble getting around so far, the yard is hard and flat, and frozen, plus I have alot of experience driving lifts so I shouldnt get myself into any trouble(knock on wood.Lol)
Havent been able to reproduce any overheating issues with it. The records show that the service dept tried 3 times and they couldnt either so it might be fine until we get some hot weather. Doesnt appear to be anything wrong but the service requests say the temp warning light came on a couple diff times. The fluids look fine, theres no smoke, it starts and runs fine. I'll do a compression test, change the oil, and just keep an eye on it.

It's possible there is no overheating and the light coming on may be a shorted wire or bad sending unit. Stick a mechanical gauge in it somewhere and monitor for a while.

A gauge would be nicer, I'll have to check if I can find and swap out the sending unit.
It only started to overheat last June when we were having some hot weather so it might not be a real big problem but I'd like to be sure in case I do put it up for sale. Was real nice to have it tho earlier today when I sold a Craftsman II and used the lift to load it into the guys pickup

I was looking at your engine picture.....Just wondering if you're missing a fan shroud and whether fan is on the right way?

No I think its all there and assembled properly, if it wasnt it would likely overheat all the time not just on rare occasions as the records show.
I think I'll pull the rad for a proper cleaning, pressure wash the engine, put in a new gasket since that was recommended by the service center, add a gauge if I can and just keep a close watch on it. Ive seen a couple of them on kijiji for $3900 and $4500 so once the work is done I'll advertise it for top dollar and see if anyone bites... if not its a nice toy to have around until I get a working fel put together

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
