That is indeed the tire!

I didn't say it was the cheapest option.

Most of the tractors in my area came with the other style of tire. The "knobby" turf. I've often wondered if it was a territory or location thing. Seems more of the tractors out east had that tread, while here in the midwest, you see more of the other style, or AG tires. Curious....

Turf tread is pretty much the norm here. Until very recent years I can't recall ever seeing a lawnmower in person with ag tires. For the Southeast I would say no snow and an abundance of small farm tractors due to tobacco operations. Those operations flooded the market with older smaller tractors (Super A-140--Cubs too but they were sort of rare on farms). When the option exists to cheaply own a farm tractor for gardening and maintenance of your property, most folks here chose to only mow with a lawnmower/garden tractor
.
I will say on our unlevel ground, I really like the way ags work for mowing---I believe in that and Santa Claus!

Very nice 123.. you can't find nice original tractors like that around here anymore!

I like the look of the narrow tires on it! Kinda odd.. we don't find many of that style tire around here.. Most of the ones we see are the knobby turf style. Not many with ags either.. There is an abundance of older small farm tractors around from the older family farms. Most people that used Cub Cadets only mowed grass.. not much need for the ags because they had other tractors to do chores with..

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
