Great Q&A guys. This is really helping me, because my alternator is maxed out on adjustment and the belt is really slapping around. It's just about toast.

Well I pitty you man, I have to agree with matt. THis is a PITA.
I'm glad I won't have to do it again, for a LONG time. Knock on wood. If you need anyhelp, just shoot me a PM, and I'll be more than welcome to help. also, if you do change it, take some chalk, and mark where all the stuff lines up. Like some lines on the pullys, The one that comes from the engine has 3 bolts, and 2 washers, Remember the position of all things, and which one don't have the washer, It makes ALL the difference, Bad part is it only took be about 2 hours to figure that out. Another question, that's sort of offtopic, but not really. 1. Would anybody know the RPM range of my engine, Like Min and Max RPM. 2. And about how mutch does the whole 1772 weigh. Like without the deck, and without any people. Thanks I'm doing a project, and I'll show yall, after I get it done. Thanks Cody |

If it makes you feel any better, I've done it 3 times. Twice on my 782D, and once on a 1512 I used to own.
RPM range should be 1200-3600 RPM. |

I had said, Thanks for the RPM Range. I bet it gets easier after you do it a few times, you get to underand it more. :P Do you know about how mutch it weighs. Just a rough estimate. I checked in the Books i've got, but none of the specs, tell weight. Thanks Cody |

Well Guys
Thanks for all the information. I've brought the 1772 to the camp, and she's getting ready for a fix-r-up. We're going to fix the frame, and here comes the questions. 1. Where can I find a new altinator, We're thinking that's the reason she's not charging, I've done some looking, but just can't find one for her, Is there a good site out there, that i'm just missing. 2. Can I buy a new key switch at the dealer, or would it be cheaper online some where, and if so, where. 3. What are some good ag tires for her. We're planting a garden, and we've got a big Kubota L3400, and to pass between the rows it's just too big, so we're fixing the cub up, to take over. So Some good ag tires are needed instead of my turfs. And I'd need some rims too, any good places. 4. If I buy a 3pt from somewhere, such as extrememotorworks, is it possible to just cut a whole in it, and have the rear pto plate behind that, with all the stuff, Basically is there a way to modify the 3pt plate to accept the rear pto setup.. Check my thread in the wanted section for the 3 pt. Thanks guys, I know it's a bunch of questions. But the sooner we get her back running right, the sooner we can plant. Thanks Cody |

The extreme is only a cat 0 three point. Rear pto seems to be a very rare option on these machines. I have seen complete package deals go for about $1000 if you can find them. There is a clutch behind the rear plate that is used to engage the pto along with other needed parts. The other problem is that you have limited attachments that will work with this style of pto. Here is a shot of my 982 with rear pto.

The super 3-point is very different from the GT 3-point...the slightly modified GT 3-point that xtrememotorworks sells will not work with a rear PTO.

Matt, Would you happen to have a picture of a super with a 3pt with pto.
Just to spot some differences.. ![]() Oak, Thanks for that pic, and yea, I knew it was only a cat 0, but I was wondering, as far as the mounting goes, could I just ask them to make it sit a little further back, and then put the first plate that holds all the pullys and clutch, under the xtreme plate. Then just cut a hole for it to pass through, Because I like the single piece design of the Xtreme, but "Want" a rear pto. Methos, yea I have looked for the Altinator, I havn't "Asked" but I've searched through all their pages. The tire question was more of a which kind, than a where to get, After reading it over again, I realize how I worded it, and want to say, I was asking more, which kind of ag would be best for the soil down here in Southern Louisiana. Thanks Cody |

I would rule out the rectifier before changing the alternator. My 1572 wasn't charging and it ended up being the rectifier which was only 40 bucks.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
