I was moving some dirt this weekend and when my blade is down and i go over a mound of dirt or a high spot the blade raises and pushes the cylinder back to retracted position. Is this suposed to happen? If not, what do I do? Thanks.

First What piston? Aux lift, hydro lift? Neither should. If it's a aux hydro lift are you sure the rock shaft is not riding back up? If it's a on board hydro lift do you have a lock out pin installed?

If it's the lift cylinder you are talking about, it's just the rockshaft floating. You need to install the float lockout pin or bolt (depending on what model tractor you have) so that the blade has down pressure for moving dirt.

Very carefully operate it without the tunnel cover as you were and see if it's actually the cylinder or something else. It may be that you have a broken spirol pin in the rockshaft but it's hard to tell without seeing what's going on.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
